AG-Scan workshop in Ghana

27 – 29 November 2019

Watch the short version:

About the workshop

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture worked closely with the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), to carry out an agriculture sector self-assessment workshop (AG-Scan) from 27 to 29 November 2019 at the Aruba Hotel in Aburi Akuapem.

The workshop, jointly facilitated by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Itad Limited, was part of the global AVANTI Initiative and aimed to strengthen the Ghanaian governments’ ability to measure progress and report against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Government priority targets in the agriculture sector. The workshop will lead to the development of an action plan on how to enhance national capacities for results-based management in the agriculture sector.

Different government ministries were involved in the exercise, such as the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation, Ghana Statistical Services, the National Development Planning Commission and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, as well as UN partners, particularly IFAD’s sister food agencies FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation) and WFP (World Food Programme).
