AG-Scan Workshop in Peru

4, 5 & 7 September 2018

About the workshop

Peru has a national institute – the INEI – that is champion for governmental statistics, but how can their knowledge provide better decision-making for the rural sector? the Ministry of Agriculture in Peru (MINAGRI) has a lot of expertise for monitoring and evaluation in agriculture, but how could this better serve planning and decision-making based on results? These and other questions have been raised in the self-assessment workshop where MINAGRI and other participants self-assessed their ability to monitor and evaluate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals in the rural sector.

What do the participants think about this experience and what is their motivation to further improve their capacities on monitoring and evaluation? watch the video to learn more.

In September 2018, over 40 representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture of Peru (MINAGRI) and other institutions assessed with the facilitation of the AVANTI team their capacities for monitoring and evaluation of the progress of SDGs. The objectives of the self-assessment workshop that took place in Lima were to

  • inform and raise awareness of the follow-up processes of the SDGs and their linkage with the planning instruments of the agriculture sector of Peru.
  • create spaces for exchange and coordination within MINAGERI and with other public entities on the monitoring systems of the SDGs related to the agriculture sector.
  • identify priority actions for improving M&E capacities and strengthen the results-based management approach.
